I make paintings in response to my world, with memory and imagination helping to create a composition. My recently acquired orchard with its spectacular views is a new source of inspiration.

Beyond that there is the passion for the process which drives it all. I am enraptured by the infinite possibilities of paint and colour, the varieties of tool and surface, the constant surprise and perpetual sense of adventure.

Lucien Freud once said that ‘each painting (is) an exploration into unknown territory.’

I feel the same.
