Painting workshop in progress at new venue, The Tew Centre, Great Tew
Workshop at Chacombe Village Hall
AN EXCITING 2 DAY EXPRESSIVE LANDSCAPE WORKSHOP
at The Rollright Stones
Rollright Village Hall
7 Hill Rise,
31 October/1 November
It seems particularly appropriate in these turbulent times to look to a more ancient sensibility to inspire our last workshop of the year. The Stone Circle at Great Rollright will be the starting point for this 2 day workshop.
The course is designed to help you ‘loosen up’ with activities to develop creative and expressive mark-making. We will look at the work of painters such as Ivon Hitchens, John Piper, Joan Eardley, Kyffin Williams, Kurt Jackson and Frank Auerbach. Their use of composition and colour, mark-making and technique can inform and inspire. You will make a series of small semi-abstract landscape paintings, and you may start a larger piece.
We will use a range of media to include inks, acrylic paints, oil pastels, soft pastels, collage, graphite, charcoal.
All papers and sketchbooks will be provided as well as light refreshments...you will need to bring your own lunch.
The landscape around is of particular interest. Click here for more information about workshops
Cost £150 for 2 days

Comments from recent course participants:"
"I really enjoyed the workshop. You had set it up so carefully so that everyone had a good spot and the flowers were beautiful. You are a very creative teacher and the session was fun playful, guided and stimulating and ultimately productive."
"Time flew by and lots to think about while having fun making pictures. Very welcoming and encouraging, great cake and coffee. Really well set up and resourced."
"Caroline's welcome making one feel relaxed and comfortable immediately dispels any nervousness and apprehension. At the end of a full day working I was amazaed at the amount of work produced and happy with my results. Well worth doing. Thank you so much." PH "Caroline's classes are so enjoyable and well paced. What to expect from the day is explained at the start with plenty of time to warm up and practise of 'play' as Caroline calls it. There are demonstrations, lots of encouragement and Caroline's homemade cake!"
